View Full Report

MVT Solutions certified testing determined that the Ex-Guard XG-150G3 had a minimal impact on fuel economy, reducing it by -0.40 gal/1000 miles (-0.41%), while the Ex-Guard XG-125G3 reduced fuel economy by -0.31 gal/1000 miles (-0.32%). The purpose of this test was to quantify the fuel costs associated with the Ex-Guard system, allowing fleets to make informed decisions regarding fuel consumption versus vehicle front-end damage (total ROI). Front-end damage can result in significant repair costs and downtime due to animal strikes, collisions with other vehicles, or contact with stationary objects. Today’s tractors are costly to repair, with high expenses associated with hoods, radiators, heat exchangers, and collision avoidance radar sensors.

Additional Features We Liked About the Ex-Guard XG-150G3 and XG-125G3

Our fleet was impressed with how well built and engineered the Ex-Guard XG-150G3 and XG-125G3 grille guards are. They open/close easily, giving easy access to open the hood. The Ex-Guard’s steel isn’t simply painted or corrosion-treated, it is layered with 1/8-inch PVC, which protects against chipping and instills a lot of confidence for a long-life product. The grille guards are universal and therefore transferable between tractors, which makes the long-life durability even more appealing. Transfer may require new tractor-specific mounts.
