SABIC Roof Fairings

View Full Report

MVT Solutions Certified™ testing found the SABIC Roof Fairings provided fuel savings in various tractor-to-trailer gaps on an International RH Day Cab. Fuel savings were 0.90 gal/1000 miles (0.71%), 0.86 gal/1000 miles (0.69%), and 1.18 gal/1000 miles (0.93%) for gaps of 26-inches, 38-inches, and 50-inches respectively. These gaps were measured from the rear of the cab extender to the trailer. For distances from the back of the cab to the trailer, add 18-inches to the above gap values.

The SABIC Roof Fairing is a unique design that improves air flow between the tractor and trailer. The tests showed that SABIC’s proprietary design has merit as a valid fuel saving system in the trucking industry. The technology is not yet commercially available; however, the reader may contact SABIC directly for more information (contact information included in test report appendix) or you may also contact MVT Solutions.

Results for Any Carrier

Carriers can trust the test results are reliable for other tractor-trailer configurations, as they are not specific to MVT’s fleet. During testing, vehicles were configured to represent the current industry-standard and did not include wheel covers or tractor wheel side fairings. Carriers can find directions on calculating their own fuel savings in the report or can contact MVT Solutions with questions.

Independent Third Party Testing

MVT Solutions fuel economy testing is independent, 3rd party testing. We do not receive any payment from the sale of products tested. To learn more about the test, view the report above or contact us.
