MVT Solutions Certified™ testing found the Michelin Energy Guard (MEG) Trailer Skirts saved 7.00 gal/1000 miles (6.02%) on double 28-ft trailers. After 125,000 miles this equates to 875 gallons of fuel saved. Using a diesel fuel price of $2.551 per gallon (U.S. average retail price in 2020), this equals $2,233 in fuel savings. Estimated ROI is 16.1 months. During fleet calculations, MVTS found the long trailer life in the 28-ft pup LTL sector led to the product paying for itself many times over, as well as summing to substantial profits over the life of the trailers. This test validated the fuel savings of MEG Trailer Skirts for double 28-ft trailers.

Carriers can trust the test results are reliable for other tractor-trailer configurations, as they are not specific to MVTS fleet. During testing, vehicles were configured to represent the current industry standard and did not include wheel covers or tractor wheel side fairings.
